What this site stores in your browser, why, and how to remove it.
Velorsen's own pages set no cookies directly — there is no server-side session and nothing to sign in to. The scripts loaded into the pages do set them: Google Analytics sets _ga and _ga_51HG3DGJ3D on this domain, and Google's advertising sets its own. Nothing you enter into a calculator is sent anywhere — the arithmetic happens in your browser. Cloudflare and Google each have a section below.
The site is hosted and protected by Cloudflare, which may set its own cookies on some requests. They are security cookies:
None of them are advertising or analytics cookies: they are not used to profile you, they carry no advertising identifier, and they are not shared with advertisers. Cloudflare describes each one in its cookie reference.
Because they exist only to serve and protect the site, no consent banner is shown for them. You can still block or delete cookies in your browser; if you do, a security check may appear more often.
The site uses your browser's local storage for two things. Local storage is similar in effect to a cookie in that it keeps a small amount of data on your device, but the data is never sent to this site or to anyone else, and it contains no identifier that points to you.
Neither value is a name, an email address, an IP address or an identifier of any kind; both are short pieces of text describing your own interface choices. Both stay on your device until you clear them or your browser does.
The theme entry records a preference you asked for by clicking the switch, and the site works without it: with no stored value the pages follow your operating system's light or dark setting. The workspace entry is a convenience — the workspace also works if it is missing, it simply starts empty.
Because neither entry involves personal data, tracking or any transfer off your device, no consent is needed for them. This page exists so the information is available anyway, in line with the transparency the law requires for anything stored on your device. The consent message this site does show is about advertising, and is explained below.
Your browser's site-data or "cookies and site data" settings let you see and delete what a site has stored, and block it in future. In most browsers you can also use a private or incognito window, where this data disappears when you close it. Nothing on this site breaks if the storage is blocked or unavailable: the calculators work either way, and the theme falls back to your system preference.
The pages load their interface fonts from Google Fonts, which means your browser contacts Google's font servers to fetch them. That request shares your IP address and browser details with Google, as any request for a file from another company's server does. The privacy policy explains this in more detail, including the option of blocking or replacing those requests.
Usage is measured with Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-51HG3DGJ3D), which sets two cookies on this domain — _ga and _ga_51HG3DGJ3D — to tell one visit from another. They last up to two years, and are first-party cookies in the sense that they belong to this domain, although the code that writes them is Google's. Nothing you type into a calculator is included: the measurement is which pages and calculators are opened, not what was entered into them.
These cookies are not strictly necessary, so they are written only after you agree to analytics in the consent message. Decline, and the site still works exactly the same — you simply are not counted. Google states that Analytics 4 does not store IP addresses; the address is used to derive a coarse location and then discarded.
You can change or withdraw analytics consent at any time in the same consent message that covers advertising (the button below reopens it), and you can block or delete these cookies in your browser's settings — the privacy policy sets out the legal basis. Refusing analytics does not affect the calculators in any way.
The ads on this site are supplied by Google through its AdSense programme (publisher ID pub-7035206723276983), and Google's ad code is loaded on every page except the 404 page. Google and the partners it works with may set cookies and read other identifiers in order to serve, measure and limit those ads, and to do the same on other sites you visit. Names to recognise include __gads, __gpi and __eoi; the exact set is Google's to change, and its advertising technologies page is the authoritative list.
These are third-party cookies: they are set by Google's domains rather than this one, and this site cannot read them. If your browser blocks third-party cookies, the ads are served without them. Cloudflare's security cookies, described above, are unrelated to advertising and carry no advertising identifier.
Before a personalised ad is requested, Google shows a consent message, and your answer decides what happens: agree, and ads can be personalised using your browsing history; decline, and ads are still shown but are not. Visitors in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland are always asked first, because that is what the law requires.
You can change that answer at any time with the button below, which reopens Google's consent message. You can also switch personalised advertising off for every site in Google's My Ad Center, use the industry opt-out portal Your Online Choices, or clear and block cookies in your browser's settings.
